Van Cleef & Arpels Boreal Diamond Festoon Bib Necklace no

The work of Van Cleef & Arpels has a sparkling symphonic grandeur like no other, created with an unending spirit of creativity. The world-renowned French Maison instills lightness and graceful movement into each of its creations often with an asymmetry and subtlety that often echoes the vitality of the natural world. This Van Cleef & Arpels Boreal Necklace, made in New York in the 20th century, circa 1990, beautifully conforms to the subtle contours of your neckline like a breathtaking piece of Haute Couture. Crafted in platinum, the 14-inch (35.56 cm) impeccably fitted piece is of floral design, comprised solely of diamonds with an estimated total weight of 99.60 carats of D-F color and VVS-VS clarity. Emblematic of Maison’s supreme attention to detail, the diamonds are selected by Van Cleef & Arpels experts according to the most demanding criteria. The Maison is one of the few to offer diamonds of such remarkable quality, exclusively selecting stones of the highest color grades both for center and pavé stones. The Boreal Necklace, named for the Aurora Borealis, meaning “dawn of the north,” references the magical lights of the northern hemisphere with its spectacular diamond sparkle. The Northern Lights appear in a clear night sky as swirling rivers of light. They move and dance unpredictably; sometimes barely perceptible, then suddenly grow vivid. The three-strand necklace is set with round and oval-shaped diamonds, many of which are over 1 carat each and up to 3.24 carats and accompanied by eight reports from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). The piece is Signed by Van Cleef & Arpels and numbered and is from an important private collection of a prominent American philanthropist. A documented provenance not only confirms the authenticity of a piece of fine jewelry but also raises the value even further by way of a storied association. The provenance, GIA reports, and serial numbers will be provided to interested buyers. Starting at the back with the concealed push clasp, three perfectly uniform rows of round diamonds flow around the neck, imperceptibly building and shimmering, like the prelude to the namesake atmospheric phenomenon. It is in the front third of the composition that things “suddenly grow vivid” with markedly larger stones. A consistent line of round brilliants begins to alternate with oval brilliants in the center row which leads to utter fireworks in the form of three exceedingly spectacular diamond flowers comprised of 5 oval diamond petals oriented around round brilliant floral centers. Adding further fanfare to the spectacular display are 5 oval diamonds suspended as dazzling drops, while the top row of round diamonds dips in a V shape to mirror the silhouette. Wearing this splendid piece, you do not need to be near the North Pole to be in for this very special treat. Indeed, there are few natural wonders on earth that are as spectacular as this Van Cleef & Arpels Boreal Necklace with the diamonds maximizing light performance beautifully. Inner circumference measures approx. 14” (35.56 cm). Oval diamond weight approx. 32.60 carats total, D-F colors, VVS-VS clarity.
